Chapter I-IV
In chapter 1 Odysseus leaves the place of Calypso on a raft. Odysseus's raft breaks and floats around helplessly and washes up on the shore of Phaecians. In chapter 2 Pallas Athene comes and tells Nausicaa to help Odysseus. She comes and bathes Odysseus. She then brings Odysseus to her father(King Alcinious). At chapter 3 Alcinious has a big party with the minstrel singing. In chapter 4 Odysseus tells what happened before Calypso's Island. He and his crew has been sailing for 9 days. They came to the lotus fruit island, so Odysseus trapped his crew on the ship and sailed away. Then they came to the land of the Cyclopes. He and part of his crew went into one of the caves and found food. They waited for the owner to come and the sight of the cyclopes terrified them. The cyclopes ate two of his men every dinner. Then Odysseus tricked the cyclops and poked a metal rod in its eye. They left the island sacrificing to the gods.
